School chats, boozy bonding

What a day!

EJ Hill hosted a phone call for myself and some of my classmates. Five of us on a call. And yes, the phone, not through zoom on a screen. And as much as I’ve lamented having to talk on the phone, this was actually a nice reprieve. And he was incredibly sympathetic and empathetic towards our situation as graduate students during this turbulent and uncertain time. He had a calm and careful cadence and provided thoughtful feedback and some reassurance. It was an honor! I hope we can group together to speak to him again sometime.

So, that was a huge highlight. And I actually got a decent amount done regarding art. Priming paper with oil, touching up other pieces, and stretching a new canvas. However, I had my first pot of coffee in a while. I probably would have been fine if I had one mug, but I drank the whole press. I felt out of my mind by the end of the night but that was fine (not really). Hung out with classmates via zoom drinking booze and finally tired myself out enough to fall asleep in spite of the caffeine overdrive.

Below are progress photos, unfortunately not process, of the pieces on paper I’ve been making. And then a beer because… it was Thursday. I’ve narrated the process of priming the paper with oil and what that does.
