Hi,
I can’t pretend to know what I wish to put down here but something is going here regardless.
I’ve been working a lot at my desk recently and creating small drawings and paintings. I’ve recently acquired a color I’ve been wanting for a couple of months now and have been shamelessly applying it to most of my new pieces. That color is Quinacridone Opera.
I first encountered this color in the form of Japanese poster paint but wanted it in oils. It’s addictive, like an electrified magenta. If they had a 150ml tube I would have bought it in a heartbeat. Okay, enough about that.
I’ve also been indulging in a really pleasant IPA my brother brought home. Plentiful and delicious craft beer is something I really missed about New Jersey. (Tonewood, not Onewood)
Other things to mention and hopefully remember?
I’ve been using Golden pastel ground mixed with ink to prime my surfaces, paper and canvas alike. Thanks, Ben!
I recently rediscovered the Mayer medium and have been loving it. Thanks, Judie!
I’ve been trying to pay close attention to the lightfastness of the colors I use since it’s not a consideration I’ve made previously.
Patterns and repetition have become increasingly important to me as a motif.
Ovation Primer has been the absorbant ground I’ve also been using and I’ll have to get more soon.
I think that’s all for today. Cheers.
